They have logged over 25,000 miles together in the past 3 years. Their children and grandchildren continue to be a source of blessing. Jerry and Polly Williams have been married for over 30 years. Jerry is a graduate of Baylor University and has been Music Minister at Spring Woods for almost 15 years. He has led the church in musical performances such as "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", "The Singing Christmas Tree", Easter pageant production "More Than a Story" and various other musical programs during the year. He is also a member of the Singing Men of SouthEast Texas. He is not known for his desire to wake up early in the morning; he really strives best in the evening. Every year he plans a ski trip to Colorado because he really loves skiing. Everyone is always surprised as to the form of costume he and Polly will be wearing at the annual Fall Festival. Polly also serves playing piano and keyboard in each service without fail. These two are a remarkable couple who love the Lord and give of themselves tirelessly at Spring Woods.
Jerry demands much from the music ministry at Spring Woods. He does an excellent job at leading our choir to be prepared for worship. The worship is a glorifying service of music that honors the Lord Jesus Christ. Striving to have a doctrinally sound music ministry can be a challenge in the present culture which tends to dumb down the music ministry. Jerry strives to incorporate music that is both traditional and contemporary. Although he leans more to a traditional style, he does utilize contempory music as a compliment to the traditional service style at Spring Woods. We hope you will come and worship with us.
Donna has been serving as the program and building manager since 2004. Spring Woods is fortunate to have such an energetic and delightful person serving in this very demanding and important area of ministry. She is the wife of a wonderful husband Dennis and has two accomplished grown children who came to know Christ at Spring Woods. Justin enjoys skydiving and Whitney and Brandon married in August of 2009.
Donna has been a member of Spring Woods and serving in the children's department since July of 1993. Before taking the ministry position at Spring Woods she served her family at home while managing an in-home daycare. She enjoys quilting and leads a group of ladies in the SWBC Quilt Group which meets every Thursday night. Another interesting fact about Donna is that she held her cosmotology license until recent changes in the state laws but still does a little moonlighting for family and friends.
Donna is as kind a person as you could ever meet. She is a delight and a great asset to the staff of Spring Woods. The church is fortunate to have such a wonderful and loving person representing the Lord Jesus Christ on behalf of Spring Woods. About 2 years ago, she went skydiving with Dennis and Justin but Whitney had to work or it would have been a family sweeping through the sky. Wow stepping out of a perfectly good airplane at 15,000 feet, what faith!
Griffin Covington is a student at Houston Baptist University, majoring in Christianity and Speech Communications hopefully graduating by next Dec. 2010.
He has been involved with ministry ever since leaving high school in 2006. Starting off in recreation ministry at a local church near his house, The Parc (theparc.org), under the direction of friend/mentor Ben Lohmer. After a few years Griffin left to pursue an internship at First Baptist Church of the Woodlands for a summer in 2008.
Since then Griffin has joined Spring Woods Baptist as Youth Director in October 2009, and has felt loved and called by God to be here. "Loving on students in every way possible" has been something that Griffin has strived for in life.
He loves sports of all kinds, mostly Frisbee, and just being random yet fun, safe, and exciting! If you'd like to hang out with Griffin, you can email him, or call up to the office, and just ask for the fun person!
But shhh, dont tell them he told you that!
